The New Zealand wine industry is halfway through a seven-year research project to wines for export that are naturally low in alcohol.  The Lifestyle Wines Primary Growth Partnership is targeting producing wines with 8 to 10% alcohol by volume with work being done on Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir variants.  The work is using natural techniques including less effective yeasts and restricting exposure to sunlight to reduce alcohol content.
