[03 April/Rural Life]

Students at Aparima College in Riverton have taken it upon themselves to help better the environment for future generations to enjoy. Following the requirement to remove a large plot of macrocarpa trees in the area due to safety reasons, the students took a proactive approach which has seen the community get in behind their efforts. Having already begun to rejuvenate the area with native trees and with many various activities such as further plantings planned, the future is looking greener in the small South Island community. This is an ongoing learning process for the students.
