[6 October/New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists & Communicators]

The top award was taken out by a joint entry from two experienced New Zealand agricultural journalists at the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators annual awards. Hugh Stringleman and Neal Wallace took out the Ministry for Primary Industries Rongo Award which recognised their excellence in journalism that appeared in Farmers Weekly. Runners up were Susan Murray and Carol Stiles. The awards were announced at the Awards Dinner sponsored by Beef + Lamb New Zealand and the Meat Industry Association. Thirteen awards were presented, with the key objective of encouraging and recognising excellence in agricultural journalism. This year was the 60th anniversary of the guild. All winning entries would be placed on its website.
