Massey University Professor, Peter Kemp said New Zealand should research genetic modification, but it was up to bigger countries and companies to convince the world that it was okay to eat genetically modified food. Mr Kemp added that many of the people who were against genetic modification were unaware of the advances made in the technology over the past few years. Mr Kemp noted New Zealand needs to invest more in biotechnology to find solutions so that it could produce healthy, sustainable, pest free food.
