Southland sheep and beef farmer, Andrew Morrison, was appointed as the chairman of Beef + Lamb New Zealand. He was previously on the board representing the Southern South Island region and was elected at the annual meeting. He farms a total of 1,030 hectares of breeding and finishing units spread between Southland and Otago along with his wife. He said that he loved the sector and that although it was not always easy, it was a great values-based sector to be a part of. He added that he was a believer in the contribution healthy rural communities made to the wider economy. He will be leading Beef + Lamb NZ as they implement a new strategy to put more emphasis on enhancing farmers’ environmental positions.
