Chief Executive David Surveyor said the co-operative Alliance Group hopes to tailor meat cuts to countries taste preferences in the future at the company’s recent meat roadshow. He also told farmers that a dividend would be paid, with more details and the annual profit result coming next month. Surveyor said lamb prices were strong internationally and that venison was increasingly being seen as a premium product in the US, but that beef prices were beginning to decrease due to a higher domestic beef kill. Chairman Murray Taggart confirmed fears that synthetic meat would likely damage the red meat industry shortly.
