Supermarkets have had to increase security measures after vegan activists put protest stickers on meat products. A butchery manager at a foodstuffs supermarket says that it is a costly and wasteful thing to do and is considered vandalism. Beef + Lamb Chief Executive Rod Slater commented that at this moment it is a minor offence but police would be called in if it escalated. Slater said the activists were behaving illegally and interfering with daily lawful activity of retailers. A police spokeswoman said the perpetrators could be prosecuted, but police would deal with them on a case-by-case basis.
