Countdown has announced that they will not sell any braeburn apples that are not certified as organic. The move is to focus on making organic products more widely available and affordable for customers. The supermarket chain sells more than five million braeburn apples a year. Countdown has teamed up with Bostock New Zealand, which now has more than 500 heactares of BioGro certified land. John Bostock, Owner of Bostock New Zealand reported that they are looking forward to for the first time supplying export quality organic apples to Countdown directly.
