Tesco has launched a new recycling initiative that allows customers to return previously unrecyclable plastics such as potato chip packets. The supermarket has installed 10 collection booths at stores in Swindon and Bristol. The waste is to be sent to Recycling Technologies who have developed a way to turn plastics back into oil. The plan relies heavily on the customers returning the plastics to the shop instead of disposing of it in the landfill. The initiative aligns with the pledge Tesco took alongside other big supermarket chains in the UK to make all of their packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.
