[29 August/Food Dive] Cargill has invested another USD$75 million (approx. NZD$118 million) into Puris, pea protein producer. This funding will be used to more than double pea protein production at a 200,000 square foot factory in Minnesota. Puris creates non-GMO and organic pea protein, sourced from more than 400 US farmers. The company is also likely to include pea protein products. One of the company’s customers is Beyond Meat. Pea protein is surging in popularity which is raising questions about supply and whether there is enough to fuel market growth.
