[02 August/Scoop] Statistics New Zealand has reported that in 2018, the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry had the highest rate of work-related injury claims making up 10.5 percent of total claims, with around 190 claims per 1,000 full-time equivalent employees. This is a slight increase from 2017 which had a rate of 187 per 1,000 FTEs. The rate means that workers in these industries are around twice as likely to be injured compared to the total rate for all industries. The age groups most at risk in this industry are young workers, aged between 15-2 and the oldest, 75 years and older.
