[03 September/Stuff NZ] Fonterra’s Edendale site has an ambitious target to reduce its water usage by 750 million litres of water per year, the equivalent to 500 olympic swimming pools, in order to reduce water levels significantly by 2030. Edendale is a water constrained region, so Fonterra wants to ensure that the water levels stay at the right level for the town’s community. A constant focus would be to be efficient in their use of water and to reuse some of the water it produces. The Edendale factory is one of six chosen nationally for the programme, with the others in the project including Maungaturoto, Lichfield, Brightwater, Darfield and Clandeboye.
