An initiative has seen 160 girls visit two farms to learn how science is driving gains in meat and milk production. Students spent a morning learning theory and then got practical experience after lunch such as helping to draft sheep. For a number of students it was the first time they have been to a farm, and the field trips are already boosting Southland Girls’ High School’s TeenAg club. The girls helped draft sheep on Nigel King’s farm near Invercargill.
